About the Artist - Ron Sturga "Capturing that moment in time as I transfer my perception of a particular subject through pen and ink to paper brings me a great deal of satisfaction. In pairing my poetic interpretation with my drawing I hope to enhance the viewers' experience even more by rekindling their own fond memories." Originally from Springdale, Pa., Ron Sturga first commuted to Pittsburgh from 1957 to 1959 for art courses in the Fine Arts Department at Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon). In 1963 he graduated from Edinboro State College (Edinboro University) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education. From 1963 to 1970, Ron served as an Art and Mechanical Drawing Teacher and Football Coach at East Allegheny High School. He earned a Master of Science Degree in Guidance and Counseling from St. Bonaventure University in 1970. Ron joined the Administrative Faculty of Edinboro University in 1970 and guided students through the Student Affairs Department until he retired as Director of Student Support in July, 2001. Ron and his wife, Mary Kay, also retired, reside in Edinboro, Pa. Presently, he is active as a Life Insurance Agent and as a High School Motivational Speaker. Ron has drawn 'Pen, Ink, and Poetry' renderings of places of significance to him, which include locally: "Crossroads Diner" (Edinboro), "Finney's Pumpkinville" (Drakes Mills), "Riverside Inn" (Cambridge Springs), "Hot Air Balloons" (Meadville's Thurston Classic), "Market House" (Meadville), "Mickey's Central" (Meadville), and his latest, "Hotel Conneaut" (Conneaut Lake Park).
